Banksmen at Wilkie's Basin (c) Bill Hall

This photograph shows a group of banksmen at Wilkie's Basin. Their job was to keep the canal banks in good order to allow the free passage of the canal traffic. They dredged the canal to keep it free of weeds and other debris.
